Because of vast cultural and climate differences in Iran, the design and material used in the carpet is different in various areas of the country, and that is why we need to spend a lot of time in order to know better the different kinds of Persian carpets.However, we tried to provide you with a comprehensive plan to introduce you the Persian carpets. In this 11-day tour, we will show you carpet museums, carpet-making workshops, noticeable historic works, and Iranian customs. Tehran

You will visit Carpet Museum of Iran, in which most valuable Persian carpets from 15th century to the contemporary era are collected, and it is a great resource for researchers and who like arts in general. Visiting Golestan Palace and Sa’dabad Complex: these palaces are reminiscent of Qajar and Pahlavi dynasty in Iran, and they are considered a part of contemporary history. Architectural style, Āina-kāri, and carpets in the palaces are highly valuable. O/N in Tehran

Tehran-Tabriz

You will have a flight from Tehran to Tabriz located in the northwest part of Iran. Indeed, you cannot know Iranian Carpet fully, without knowing Tabriz carpets. Making carpet in Tabriz began in Safavid dynasty, and Tabriz is consider one of the oldest eminent centers of handmade carpets in the world. Recently, Tabriz was recorded as “world city of handicrafts and carpet” by World Crafts Council. Today, you will visit one of the most significant commercial centers which was once located on the way of Silk Road, and this signifies the tradition and originality of trade and architecture in orient. O/N in Tabriz

One-hour driving to and visiting wonderful mountainous village of Kandovan; also visiting Blue Mosque. O/N in Tabriz

Tabriz-Shiraz

You will have a fight to Shiraz, which is distinguished for its cultural and literary prominence, visiting Vakil Bazaar and watching different kinds of carpets, handmade Gabbehs and kilims, you can see Persian rugs of other cities of Iran for instance Kerman and Sirjan in Vakil Bazaar. You will visit a master and researcher of handmade carpets. You will also visit Vakil Mosque, Vakil Bath, and the beautiful Nasir al-Mulk Mosque. O/N in Shiraz

Shiraz-Firuzabad

Today we will visit Firuzabad County to watch nomads’ carpet-making skills. The difference of nomads’ carpet weaving with other parts of Iran is that many of them make carpets in an abstract way and with no design and this is why no two carpets are identical. They acquired all these skills orally from their parents. In Firuzabad, you will visit Palace of Ardashir, which was built 1700 years ago. O/N in Nomadic tent, Firuzabad

Shiraz-Isfahan

Visiting Persepolis (UNESCO.W.H.S) and Naqsh-e Rostam, visiting Pasargadae (UNESCO.W.H.S) The Tomb of Cyrus the great, the founder of Achaemenid Empire and continuing our journey to Isfahan. O/N in Isfahan

Isfahan

As Safavid kings were interested in arts, since the 16th century AD, Isfahan turned into one of the most beautiful cities in Iran and some of the most renowned Iranian painters, carpet makers, and musicians have lived in Isfahan. Formerly and currently, carpet designers of Isfahan were greatly influenced by tile work design and historic buildings of the city like Chehel Sotoun, Chaharbagh School, and Sheikh Lotfollah Mosque, and they have decorated their designs inspired by the beautiful figures of these buildings. In the magnificent Naqsh-e Jahan Square, we will visit historic places and carpet shops. If possible, we will pay a visit to a dyeing workshop. O/N in Isfahan

Isfahan

Isfahan-Kashan

Traveling from Isfahan to Kashan. Kashan was as well one of the most important cities making handmade carpets. One third of the city dwellers make carpets. Two third of the carpet weavers are women. The style of Persian weaving, which is known as the asymmetrical knot, is used in Kashan with an exceptional elegance. Traditional carpet-weaving skills in Kashan has been registered on UNESCO List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage. Visiting Kashan carpets is in tour itinerary. O/N in Kashan

Kashan-Qom

Traveling from Kashan to Qom. You can see easily the skillful adaptation from all carpet-weaving styles of Iran in Qom carpets. Silk carpet of Qom is among the most beautiful silk carpets in Iran. You will visit the traditional carpet markets and workshops of Qom, and in the evening, we will accompany you to Tehran Imam Khomeini International Airport.

Note: The travel from Qom to Tehran Imam Khomeini International Airport takes 1 hour. We can book a hotel for you to rest a couple of hours in Qom or in the Airport’s hotel upon your request.
